Fatu Judy Henderson; the Lady Drummer Orisha Music for Beginners (2006)) Fatu out did herself on this collection of spiritual songs from the traditionof Ifa. She sings chants to Eshu (Elegba), Ogun and Ochosi, the first three Orishas (deities, guides) saluted in a traditional ceremony. The CD is accompanied by a 28 page booklet giving lyrics, interpretations and the history and impact of this ancient African spiritual tradition in the Americas. Fatu proves to be a thought provoking scholar. Her writings bring additional meaning to the songs she sings. Brilliant work by Fatu. Five tails from the dragon! Ra (2001) Like Lady Drummer, Ra is a combination of acapella vocals and traditional West African drumming. She Features Mandianai, as played in Mali, combined with her rich harmonies and strong sense of musical arrangement. A wonderful CD for those who like African based music. Four tails from the dragon. Loren Montanez La Voz de Mi Silencio Mi Camino Solitario Excellent first effort on the part of Loren Montanez and hisguitar wielding brother, Estevan Sandoval. Loren creates what can only be called a Latin Fusion; mixing traditional Aztec chants with politically loaded songs of the Mexican farm revolution. Bask in his wonderful and sensual love songs. A great diversity of music that flows well together. The CD is a must. The sax playing……. hot! Estevan and his guitar are the bomb. Almost four tails from the dragon.
